If you have regrets, don’t avoid them. Process them, cry them out if needed, and soon enough you’ll be free from the feeling.
It can be difficult to admit regret. You might feel like admitting it means: confirming forever that you’re some sort of failure in life. But no, quite the opposite – once fully admitted, this feeling simply goes. You stop being bounded by it, and the thoughts that “you failed in life” lose their strength. It stops being true for you; you become free of this curse. You can finally move forward.
Here’s a tip: see the feeling of regret (and specific memories connected to it) as impersonal. It doesn’t relate to you. It’s simply a feeling/energy that you are meant to process and move on from. But you are never endangered by it. You don’t need to protect your established life story from it – the story is bullshit anyway.
